Exposure Coaching:
Therapy for OCD is great. Transformative even. However, you’re only with your therapist once or twice a week. It can be really hard to get the motivation and courage to face your fears and do the exposures your therapist suggested.
With an exposure coach, you have the accountability and the compassion of someone who wants to see you succeed in fighting your OCD.
Your exposure coach will also be working with your therapist to ensure the best treatment outcomes. For example, if you have hit and run OCD and are afraid to drive out of fear that you will hit an object or person, your exposure coach may go along with you for a car ride. They will be there to support you - while not giving reassurance - as you face your fear and take your life back from OCD.
How it works:
Your therapist will speak with your coach and learn about the exposures you are working on, challenges and successes.
Your coach will develop an action plan addressed by your needs in ERP treatment.
Meet with your exposure coach virtually, at our Harvard Square office or somewhere in the community relevant to you and your OCD.
Meet your coach anywhere from 1-3 hours per session.
Meet your coach anywhere from once a week to four times a week.
Coaching fees vary based on location however generally speaking, our coaches charge $40/hour.
